Chemical industry effluent requires very carefull laboratory analysis. Normally effluent is primary treated and then let to city's network. In some cases additional biological treatment is required.

Chemical industry effluent normally has high BOD/COD, P, heavy metals, other dangerous chemical substances, which are neccessary to remove before discharge to city's network. For primary treatment flotation or sedimentation is used combining these methods with variuous water treatment chemicals, which first must be tested in laboratory for efectiveness and doses. Primary treatment can remove approximately 50-70% of pollutants. If there is only biological treatment without primary treatment such system is very sensitive. When biological treatment is not effective it is possible to use variuous bacteria products than can intensify biological process.
